Thankfully January has passed from us once again.  We welcome February and the hope of spring with open arms.  We spent the last day of January driving up to Tulsa from Dallas, meeting Maya, Matt, Josh, and Becca who drove down from Saint Louis, and we enjoyed an evening at a hotel with some family time and swimming and a visit to Safari's Animal Refuge in Broken Arrow. Safari's is a place that rescues big animals who have been held as pets and so on. It is amazing the things that people tried to make into pets and they didn't work. For example, they tell the story of a truck driver who bought a pet cougar at a truck stop and drove around in his semi with a pet cougar. Didn't exactly work. Safari's let you see the animals, learn about them, and when appropriate and safe, let you feed and pet the animals. My favorite part was the bird house with the parrot who shrieked 'hi' when you came in and the one who as you walked by said, "Hey, please let me out". That's funny.
