From the great state of Texas howdy!  We visited our Texas home church, Faith Lutheran Grand Prairie, last weekend and had a good time there, it was great to reconnect with them.  It has also been fantastic to reconnect with friends in the neighborhood at the International Linguistic Center, where we lived last year, and to enjoy the milder Texas winter.  Yesterday, the kids and I went to Concordia University in Austin where I had the opportunity to speak at chapel, speak to the mission club, and teach the 'Communication for Church Workers' class.  It was a great opportunity to speak about LBT's mission and also of the importance of 'exegeting' the scriptural text and 'translating' it to whatever culture, group, person, etc that the Lord place you in contact with.

Additionally, the LCMS's Board for Higher Education for the Concordia University System was on campus and got to hear some of the LBT vision shared in chapel too.  All in all it was a great time and we enjoyed ourselves immensely.  Dr. Paul Muench, former LBT director and professor at the University hosted us and recruited the kids to consider CUA for college.  I think he convinced Katherine.  Of course the 75 degree sunny day in January helped a lot too.

This weekend we are at Our Savior Lutheran Church in McKinney Texas and then at a Tanzanian congregation in Dallas, Umoja Fellowship, Sunday evening.  That's all for now from the Lone Star State.
