Just wanted to let everyone know that while she's not really a nurse, Maya finished up the coursework for her Primary Health Care class already yesterday evening (she's the first done!) and has already been commended by the nurses teaching the class for her insight and skill in the diagnoses she has determined on the case studies as well as her work on the hands on parts of the class.  Members of her class gave each other shots on the first day of class - inserted hydration tubes, stiched up chickens, etc. etc.  We have some, uh, interesting pictures and video that we will be uploading to the website in the next few weeks to show you a little about what they've been working on.

Anyways, I'm real proud of Maya - she's done a great job!  I'm even more glad to have her available in the evenings again so we can finish packing and moving.

In other news - I had my last Sunday at Faith Lutheran in Grand Prairie TX.  The church is doing a summer sermon series that is also tied into summer Sunday School and adult Bible class called 'Heroes of the Bible'.  So I got to preach about (and be) Samson on Sunday.  I did my best Schwarzeneggar impression and actually taught in that voice for like ten minutes.  (The sermon was two part - one with the character of Samson and the other talking about temptation in which I played a Lutheran pastor who looks and talks like me).  The congregation had a great going away reception for us - it was great.  Even though we've only been there a few months, it was a lot like leaving a home church.

Which is one part of the missionary life that I had not really thought much about.  The constant starting over and uprooting, establishing new relationships, getting to know people and just as you hit your stride, uprooting again.  I never really understood the sheer loneliness of it at times.  But we take our example from the apostle Paul who learned to be content in each situation and to find an entry point and opportunity for the gospel in each place the Lord leads us.

Three more days til we head for our next stop!
